Derek Corke is a Watercolour Artist with an international reputation. His work is owned and widely sought by Multi-National Companies and private collectors, he has had many exhibitions both here and in London.
Initially trained in fine art and architectural drawing at the Christopher Wren School, London and later at Kingston School of Art, Derek has, over 30 years, perfected his artistry.
He works from direct observation, rendering his colours with an assured hand to capture the morning light and the intricate architectural detail. Derek's paintings evoke a sense of time and place that illuminates the essential essence.
In the current series, Derek captures many well known Singaporean scenes, sympathetically preserving the pride and grandeur of the ethnic and the colonial. His characteristic use of shade and colour generates in each one a remarkable sense of heat and light.
